If you have been to our shop in Hensall, North Yorkshire, you will undoubtedly have seen a rake of these wagons pass through the level crossing just outside being pulled by either a Class 66 or Class 60 in either GBRF or DB Schenker livery. As I type this, there is one rumbling past, making this old Victorian building rattle.
They are used exclusively to deliver compressed wood pellets from ports at Tyne, Hull, Immingham & Liverpool to the Drax power station in North Yorkshire, making them unique in carrying such a material. The wagons are much larger than conventional coal hoppers and provide greater protection for the delicate pellets they carry.
They are a part of the landscape in this area which is why I often post videos of them going past on our social media platforms, so please feel free to have a look.
